Scotland’s Alternative City
Aberdeen is welcoming, adventurous, unafraid, and forever evolving. The perfect place to find your purpose and your people.
Nestled in between the Cairngorms National Park and miles of golden coastline, Aberdeen has something exciting at every turn.

Kellie-Anne Dreary International Relations and Linguistics
When I first came to Scotland from the US in 2021, I found myself in a whole new city and a country where I knew absolutely no one. I’m not going to lie, I was quite scared. But then, I took a breath and jumped into life here headfirst, exploring the amazing city I now call home.
I’ve grown to realize this was the best decision I’ve ever made. I’ve met my best friends and created a place for myself in the Granite City. When my friends from home visit, I love showing them all my favourite places.

Aberdeen Beach
My personal favourite are the food trucks. You can get the best cheesecakes at Little Molly’s, great woodfire pizzas, and even loaded fries. You can also rent paddleboards and have a day on the water, or even go to Codona’s for a game of bowling, and go-karting (yes, I still go-kart at 21, no shame).
Castle Fraser
A nice wee walk to take when you realise you haven't left your flat in days and are starting to become a bit of a hermit. Castle Fraser is a beautiful place to take a stroll, unwind and just connect to nature.
Shiprow
Tucked away below Union Street this short road hosts a variety of different things. It has great food like Aberdam (nothing beats their brie bites and chips), and great pubs like Malones (their live music is always a vibe).
Stonehaven
If you're looking for more of a day trip, then Stonehaven is perfect. You can start the day off by exploring Dunnottar Castle and the trails around it, go on a lovely walk along the beach and end it with award winning fish and chips.
Nightlife
Of course, no student guide is complete without nightlife. A student favourite area is Belmont Street, just off Union Street lined with all types of bars, cocktail places and coffee shops you'll find whatever you’re looking for there. My favourite is Siberia, a bar with a nice vibe and all-around good atmosphere.
